Policy & Principles

It is the policy of Dana to provide attractive and desirable products and services that meet or exceed the requirements and expectations of our customers. The quality of our products and services shall be the most significant reason to select us as the Preferred Supplier by our customers.

This Supplier Quality and Development Manual provides a foundation to establish the business process necessary for the achievement of competitive performance and business results and communicate Dana specific customer requirements and processes to the supply chain. This Manual places an emphasis on ‘Performance Based Partnership.’ This statement explicitly identifies the need for suppliers to focus on the achievement of pre-determined performance objectives; divided into the areas of Quality, Delivery, Support, Technology and Commercial.

We believe that the implementation of this Supplier Quality and Development Manual will assist our suppliers in the development of their business and manufacturing processes, contributing to mutually enhance our future competitiveness and success. We believe that there must be shared responsibilities and we will treat our suppliers the way we want to be treated, with fairness and honesty. We want our suppliers to survive, grow and become a vital partner with Dana.

In order for Dana and its suppliers to meet our goals and the goals of our customers, there are fundamental expectations that we must build into our business system related to:

  • Quality (Defective Parts per Million (PPM), and Incident Rate)

  • Delivery (Delivery Performance)

  • Lean Manufacturing and Lean Processing (Cost Reduction)

  • Diversity Sourcing (Diversity Spend by Supplier, in regions where applicable)

  • Problem Solving (Repeat Failure Modes and Technology Improvement)

  • Responsiveness (Timeliness of Containment and Corrective Action Plans)

  • Defect Free Launches (APQP Support)

  • Business Conduct and Commercial Standards

In our pursuit of the elimination of waste from our extended enterprise, we encourage our suppliers to provide feedback and constructive criticism of the processes that define the Dana / Supplier interface. If you have any comments or improvement suggestions please follow the link to the Supplier Ideas System.
